WHAT IS A SURVEYOR?
A surveyor measures and maps land, property boundaries, and other physical features for various purposes. We go out into the field, on construction sites, residential sites or sometimes on big properties to measure land, boundaries or existing structures.

We ensure that construction projects are executed accurately according to design plans. Surveyors work on construction sites, often using instruments like theodolites to layout the precise locations for buildings, roads, bridges, and utilities.

SURVEYING ALLOWS YOU
TO WORK IN
THE FIELD AND
IN THE OFFICE
Surveying offers a balance of outdoor and indoor work. So it is a great career choice for someone who enjoys a mix of field work and computer work.

70%
FIELD
WORK
We spend around 70% of our working days out in the field. This can be on large commercial construction sites or small residential sites. We attend our clients projects to measure and gather data using various instruments such as our theodolite.
Once we have gathered all our relevant data, we then return back to our office in Dickson where we upload our data and measurements to our computers. We then use the field data to prepare plans and reports for our clients. These plans usually indicate the location or measurement of certain items or boundaries.
